Properties Hematite’s dark reflective surface makes it a useful tool for scrying. It dispels and wards negative energy, and helps to ground and protect its wearer. The name hematite comes from the Greek word haima meaning blood, named for the red iron in the core of the stone. In fact, it was believed that large deposits of hematite were formed on battlefields where there was a lot of bloodshed.
