About: Japanese wind bells, or furin, are distintive due to the tanzaku, strips of colorful paper that hangs and flutters in the summer breeze. Originally used in Buddhist templates, the bells were eventually hung in windows to ward away evil spirits. These days, they are popular decor outside Japanese homes, particularly during the summer. Their gentle ringing sound is said to make the house feel cooler.
